What to Expect
Our Edu-K8 Pathways™ teaching helps young learners strengthen their English, Maths and independent learning skills. We begin with what each learner already understands, address gaps and apply learning to everyday situations.
Progression towards Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 Functional Skills preparation depends on individual readiness. Tuition, exam entry and qualification arrangements are discussed separately.
Building Towards Functional Skills
Learners begin with an initial assessment so that teaching can be matched to their current level, strengths and areas for development.
Through structured Maths and English tuition, learners strengthen the core knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to progress towards Functional Skills study.
As learners become ready for formal qualification preparation, we can help families identify an appropriate pathway towards Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 Functional Skills.

Acceptance requirements can vary between colleges, training providers, apprenticeships, employers and higher education providers, so families should always check the specific entry requirements for their intended next step.
How much does Functional Skills tuition cost?
Tuition fees depend on the learner's needs and the programme recommended following an initial discussion and assessment. Please contact Edu-K8 for current availability and fees.
Do you provide Functional Skills tuition for adults?
Adult Functional Skills provision is currently in development. Please contact us if you would like to register your interest in future provision.
How will we know when my child is ready for a Functional Skills exam?
Readiness depends on your child’s knowledge, skills and confidence, rather than age alone. Before arranging an exam, families should confirm entry requirements, available support and assessment arrangements with their chosen exam centre. Edu-K8 tuition does not automatically include an exam booking.
